What we can offer your child

Student success

Our school provides a high-quality, low-cost education that supports every child’s growth. We’re proud of our students’ successes, we encourage their participation in a wide variety of activities from Eisteddfod stage performances in front of an audience to individual achievements such as improving a running time as a personal best.

Your child's ability to succeed in a wide variety of ways is our daily strategy in every classroom and play time event.

A student is being awarded with a large perpetual trophy, some lego and a medal for high achievement throughout the entire year.
Our student success looks like:
  • participation in a range of competitions
  • success in life beyond school
  • active community members
  • growth through high potential and gifted education
  • striving for personal improvement.

Once Playgroup has ended, there is a messy play space that shows us how much fun they can have imaginatively learning with our equipment.

A world of opportunities

We offer a wide range of programs and experiences to help them thrive. From STEM and sport to the creative arts and more, our broad curriculum encourages curiosity and critical thinking. Students at our school are encouraged to enjoy their learning from as early as 0 years when we welcome them in for weekly Playgroup sessions. For us, their learning is our reason to come to work. We all enjoy the journey that their young minds can take them on as they develop their learning at Gwabegar School.

Our students have access to:
  • excursions
  • incursions
  • extra-curricular activities
  • a wide variety of subjects.

Tailored learning support

We know every child learns in their own way. That’s why we provide tailored learning support to help each student do their best. Our programs meet different student needs. This includes high potential and gifted students, students with additional needs or disability, and those who need wellbeing support. At our school, your child will get the support they need to succeed. Let us know what additional your child needs.

A placecard is attached to our morning tea table, this allows a student to easily recognise their designated space for this structured activity.
We offer students:
  • student learning support officers (SLSO) in the classroom
  • teaching and learning adjustments
  • extension activities for students who need extra challenge
  • wellbeing and counselling support.
Our school students are participating in a community event in our front yard space, it is a welcoming scene for visitors at our school.

A welcoming community

Our school is a place where students from all backgrounds feel safe, respected and part of the community. Our location in the middle of the Pilliga Forest National Park creates a protected space where we belong. We have many unique learning opportunities that are only possible in this small community location. We take full advantage of our natural surroundings and embrace what makes our area special.

We create a welcoming community by:
  • hosting annual events for Easter, Mother's Day and Father's Day, School Centenary events and Annual Presentations.
  • celebrating Harmony Day, ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day, Jeans for Jeans Day, Doing It for Dolly Day, Jump Rope for Heart.
  • incorporating culturally inclusive school events
